Supporting children with SEN

We provide an environment in which all children, including those with special educational needs, are supported to reach their full potential.

Our Early Help Advisors

  • Estelle Harvey

I am one of the Early Help Advisors at Greenwood’s nursery and I am always available should you need to discuss your child’s learning and development, or anything else that may be of a concern to you such as behaviour, sleep, healthy eating etc.

I have worked in the Early Years sector for many years, a job which I absolutely love. Estele worked at Hearts of the Forest school for 8 months & works at forest pulse charity in the evenIngs. I have completed new to SENCo training recently and is working towards ‘New to SENco training’ with Gloucestershire council county.

My aim is to ensure that each and every child who may or may not need additional support is encouraged to reach their full learning and development potential and I believe that early intervention is the key. If you would like to speak with me please do not hesitate to get in touch, I am more than happy to help.

  • Chantelle Randall-Jacobs (currently on maternity leave)

I became the Early Years Advisor for Greenwoods in June 2018, I have always been passionate about this area of childcare and I am grateful that I can finally pursue this having taken on this role. I have attended ‘New to SENco training’ enabling me to widen my knowledge and also SENco conferences where i have heard parents speak about their experiences first hand having had support from their local early years advisors.

I have recently completed my level 2 in understanding autism and hope to further my knowledge in other areas in which children may require support. I am gaining more and more experience regarding the different types of support children may need for instance speech and language therapy and referrals for these. If you have any concerns/ questions please feel free to speak to me directly.

Delivering Better Value

  • Greenwoods Nursey has been selected to join the Delivering Better Value programme.

Delivering Better Value (DBV) in SEND Programme (funded by DfE) which was introduced in 2021/22. Gloucestershire is one of 55 local authorities engaged in this programme receiving dedicated support and funding. Briefly, the aim is to deliver short term support to explore opportunities to strengthen inclusion in education settings and improve outcomes for children. In doing so, it will help to identify root causes and opportunities to building plans for local areas to implement improvements.

We are delighted to participate in our Early Years Enhanced Inclusion Support Offer programme pilot which will run for 12 months from 1st June 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with our Inclusion Team to access individual support and advice, training opportunities and funding. In addition to the support offered to you as a setting, there is also an expectation that you engage in regular (likely half-termly) meetings with our Inclusion Advisors and other providers on the programme to network, reflect and share experiences.

  • Parents survey for DBV programme

We are keen to hear the views of parents/carers at Greenwoods Nursery, now at start of programme June 2024 and at the end of the programme June 2025.
